Inspiring Puketāpapa Climate Care

Inspiring Puketāpapa Climate Care is a project that supports people and groups in Puketāpapa to bring their climate care ideas to life.

Inspiring Puketāpapa Climate Care (IPCC) is a project that supports people and groups in Puketāpapa to bring their climate care ideas to life. This project started in 2023 under the name Do Good Feel Good, with the aim of reducing the barriers for locally-led climate action in Puketāpapa.

Climate care ideas are initiatives that aim to support climate change mitigation (reduce carbon emissions), climate change resilience and climate change adaptation locally.

IPCC 2025-2026

IPCC 2025-2026 is well under way, thanks to funding from the Puketāpapa Local Board.

Between November 5th 2025 and March 16th 2026 we received nine eligible applications from local people and groups with climate care ideas that they wanted to bring to life.

With $5000 in funding to allocate, our community voted to decide which ideas they would most like to see happen in Puketāpapa. This community voting process, which is also known as participatory grant-making, happened online and in-person (at the Mount Roskill Library) from March 30th to April 10th 2026.

Over 200 local people voted, deciding that for IPCC 2025-2026, the five successful projects are:

  • Seeds, Seedlings, Soil and Tools for Binhi Garden;

  • Community Clothing Swap;

  • EcoWonders Kids Climate Activation Workshop;

  • Rain Water Tank for Wesley Community Garden; and

  • Seeds for New Horizons Community Garden.

We can't wait to see these climate care projects come to life!
