Puketāpapa Neighbours Day grants' support neighbours in our local area to create a fun, safe and more connected Puketāpapa. Roskill Together works in partnership with the Puketāpapa Local Board to deliver neighbours day grants.

Puketāpapa Neighbours Day 2026

Between March 1st and April 5th 2026, 20 (funded) neighbours day gatherings were held across six suburbs of the Puketāpapa Local Board area. The suburbs of Hillsborough, Lynfield, Mt. Roskill, Three Kings, Waikōwhai and Wesley were all represented, with over 1,151 people attending their street's gathering.

Puketāpapa Neighbours Day aligns with the Neighbours Aotearoa goal of turning strangers into neighbours, and streets into neighbourhoods. In 2026, the feedback Roskill Together received from neighbours day gathering hosts, indicated that local participation in Puketāpapa Neighbours Day gatherings encouraged mutual support networks amongst neighbours at a street level.

100% of hosts told us that they were more likely to offer ‘acts of goodwill’ to their neighbours than before they hosted their gathering. Further, 94.7% of hosts said that they were more likely to ask their neighbours for ‘acts of goodwill’ after hosting their neighbours day gathering.

Aside from the numbers, the stories hosts shared with us about their gatherings speak to the impact and value of Puketāpapa Neighbours Day for our local community. Roskill Together received stories about belonging;
